Be Prepared

Finally Friday! Honestly does not mean that much to me right now since I am not working. It does mean the weekend and time with my two favorite men! :) Tomorrow we are spending the day at a family fun center to celebrate Rylence and my nephew A.J.'s birthdays. It will be a fun and exhausting day of bumper cars, go carts, laser tag, mini golf, and more. May even catch a movie. I love family time!
Changing gears... This morning I saw a news story about a 5 month old baby who was saved on the side of a Florida road after he stopped breathing. I am happy to hear that someone who knew what to do stopped and helped the family and that the baby is doing well. It does bring to light the fact that a vast majority of our country is unprepared for such situations. It is scary to think about the possible situations that can occur and how long it could be before someone who knows basic life saving techniques can get to you. Which is why I feel that everyone should be required to take at least one CPR class and maybe even basic first aid in their adult life. Whether that be part of the licensure process or some other time or process during life I am unsure. I don't know the best way to implement this and I understand that everything sounds better on paper, but imagine a country where everyone around you at least knows what actions need to be taken and can instruct someone else if they are not able to. Maybe a CPR/basic life support class for licensure and CPR/basic life support and first aid for first time parents and a refresher available for every child thereafter. I also understand that just because you give people the tools does not mean that they will use them. I would have to ask those people how much of a difference can being prepared make? Personally, A lot! Maybe this is something I will have to do the research and data collection on and start my political career with...?
I will step off of the soap box now. :) Hope everyone has a great weekend!

XoXo
