OBX Vacation!!
The previous weekend (July 12-15) the Motz household (including my dad and Matt's brother) ventured to kill devil hills, NC for a weekend filled with beach and sun. Matthew's parents meet us there and we all split a 2bedroom suite on the oceanfront.
The ride to the outer banks was a long and wet one. It rained 7/8 of the drive there. On the way into the outer banks we decided to stop and explore diggers dungeon. A great stop for any monster truck fan! We did not have the luck of being there while an Anderson was but we ate at the digger diner and rode on the monster truck ride. It was fun but hope to make it by there again when everything isn't drowned in rain.
Afterwards we headed down to our hotel and checked in early so we could start our beach time. It was cold and still raining on and off but a nice day to sit and watch the ocean regardless. The outer banks is a great beach due to less tourism. We ate in the first night.
The next morning we ventured down the coast to pea island and explored the beach there finding a blue crab, some quartz, and some seashells. Then we drove down to cape Hatteras lighthouse which Georgie, Rylence, and myself climbed. It was a beautiful view and a great experience to climb. It was Rylence and I's first lighthouse climb but doubt it will be our last. Then we started our way back to our beach home for the weekend. Rylence and I played in the sand a little while and then we all went to a wonderful seafood buffet to get our fill for the year. Afterwards we all spent the evening on the pier fishing. It was a beautiful night full of catching things. Skate, sand sharks, croaker fish, a horse shoe crab. Nothing we could really eat but still a ton of fun! Also watched a guy reel in an 80lb. Sting ray!
Sunday we all just layer around or went venturing on our own. Did do some souvenir shopping that morning and then went for a burger. That afternoon most of us spent in the ocean or collecting more seashells and sand. It was a great night finished with some pizza and adult beverage on the balcony.
Monday we packed up and headed our separate ways. It was hard to leave the beach again and head back to reality but one does what one must. All in all it was a great weekend. Matthew has convinced me that beach living would be great but still not sure when and where that will happen. :) all I know is that I have to get through the rest of school and find a job first. Possibly him finish school and be working before it is a reality. Who knows where life will take us in the next year even... That's the exciting part. Well hope everyone has a great weekend!
Xoxo
