Cupcake tower and other things.
Hello Everyone! I wanted to share another DIY project I have completed. One of my best friends is getting married a week from today and I have made a cupcake stand for the, well, cupcakes! I found a blog that had a guide and went at it.It is definitely not as easy as the blogger made it sound but not as hard as it could have been. :)
Begin with 3 20x30 foam boards from any craft supply store, wrapping paper of choice (or sheets of scrapbook paper), ribbon (she said 5 yards, I used over 6 so you decide), a hot glue gun, homemade modge podge, ruler, pencil, foam applicator, exacto knife, and lots of patience! haha!
She does a better job of describing how to cut the boards and the dimensions so I will let you go to her page for all the details. I will add that the exacto knife will take practice if you are not already accustomed to it. (my wonderful father has a gift with it so he did all the cutting after I realized I wasn't any good at it! :) ) And to seriously take your time and be patient with the modge podge and wrapping paper. We found it was easiest to spread a thin layer across of the modge podge then slowly flatten the paper onto it. It does take a long time just moving 2-3 inches at a time but it works the best. The homemade modge podge is something that people have been using for a long time... simply elmer's glue and water. 50-50 mix and Voila! So much cheaper and works wonderfully! :)
Matthew, Rylence, and I also went to the zoo yesterday. Was a short visit but a fun one. Today I am making a blueberry cobbler in the crock-pot (first recipe out of a cookbook my mother gave me), and Jumbalaya (also a first time dish for me). Hoping to be able to explore some more this semester with the crock-pot since I will be short on time. And the last little piece of news is the best yet! Matthew starts day shift tomorrow!!!! We are so excited that he will be able to be home with us every night! Going to make this semester a little easier! :) Plus we can eat meals as a family again!! Well back to dinner for me! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
