Exploring!
Yesterday, June 23, Matthew, Rylence, George (Matt's Brother), and I decided to go exploring some of the state parks and God's handiwork in our area. George is staying with us for the time being and is a huge nature lover! He inspired us to go traveling last fall to a waterfall and creek bed in Macon County. He recently found some pictures of Burgess falls and was saying he would like to see them. we decided it would be a great expedition for us all. We set out around 9:30 am on our hour and twenty minute drive to the falls. We arrived and dived right into the trail. It was a great hike and some beautiful scenery. Rylence enjoyed the walk and the views but did not like to stop and look for long. He is energetic and always on the move. We climbed down almost the very bottom of the tallest fall. The rest of the way down seemed a little intense for Rylence and he was wanting to play at the playground in the parking lot so we let Georgie finish up that hike and we headed to the top with Dad who by the way stayed at the top of the stairs because he was not keen on the "jurassic park" stairs (as he called them) leading to the bottom. So the three of us climbed back up to the playground. Shortly after George met up with us a storm started rolling in. We decided to travel over to Cookeville for a bite to eat since it was nearing noon. After recharging and refueling we all agreed that we wanted to venture to Rock Island park since we were in the area, had time, and it was "on the way". That was another great expedition! Beautiful formations and a great swimming hole! I believe we may be back to that in the near future. It was a fun-filled day and we arrived to our humble abode around 5:30 pm. We all had a small bite to eat and took showers. I can't remember having so much fun just us! I do believe we will be spending more time doing this from now on.
This week I am also starting to volunteer at Special Kids here in Murfreesboro. It is a day care program for children with special needs who cannot attend a regular day care or need skilled nursing care. I am also hoping to sign up with UMC in Lebanon for some volunteer work. Have not been able to find a job in the nursing field but am hoping these experiences will help me learn and maybe lead to the right connections. I am starting to look into residencies and possible jobs so I have a plan for applying come December! Closer and closer everyday... So excited!
Hope everyone has a great week!
