The weekend

I feel like this past weekend literally passed in the blink of an eye. I assume it is due to the fact we had a lot of things planned, also that my mother was admitted to the ICU on Friday. Let's start there.
So Mom has been staying in a rehabilitation center for her physical therapy (PT) and until she is able to fully function on her own at home after a fall resulting in a fibula break which required surgery. Well her surgery incision has not been healing like it needs to and the doctor admitted her to UMC hospital to try and help it along and observe her while doing so. While she is there she was to continue PT. On friday morning when she went to PT she was doing the exercises well and then suddenly she was short of breathe, had chills, and weakness on her left side. They were afraid of a Pulmonary embolism (clot of blood/fat/or air in the artery/veins of the lungs) and called the rapid response team. She was then admitted to ICU after they somewhat stabilized her and did a CT of her head and chest. A CVA (Stroke) was another concern that they had. Longer story short everything came back clear except she had some consolidation in her lungs, so an intense infection that had been building and they now were testing to see if it had and to what extent moved into her blood strem. She has MRSA on a leg wound and it traveled to her lungs and set up shop. They started an intense antibiotic regimen when they found the infection and it has started clearing some of the issues she was having. She is doing better but it will take a while to get this out of her system. She doesn't seem to be able to catch a break! I am extremely glad that she was in the hospital when this happened and is improving. Will keep everyone posted.
Saturday was a busy day before mom was admitted because Rylence's first game and pictures were scheduled and we had also scheduled a family photo session with Amber Rena Photography. So we started the day at 7am with Rylence's pictures which were adorable in his uniform! at 8am he played his first game, which he did really well and his team won! And afterwards we changed and drove to Nashville for our photo shoot. The sun didn't come out but it was still a decent day for pictures and cannot wait to see them! She does amazing work and always catches the great moments. After that we visited mom and my wonderful brother and SIL decided to take Ry for the night! Matthew and I don't have kid free house nights very often so we decided to go to a bar were some friends from school work. It was a great night and we were even able to show off some dance moves! It's nice to unwind with Matthew every now and then and not think of school, work, kids, family, etc.
Also wanted to show off a picture of my first homemade apple pie that I made last week. It turned out delicious! I will defintiely not be able to buy them in the store anymore. :) And a fast update as far as my future is concerned I have an interview at Norton healthcare on March 29th!! I am hoping this can spiral into a beautiful summer externship and then job, possibly even at the children's hospital!! I am also applying for St. Jude's research hospital summer externship in Memphis. I am not as keen on the idea of moving to memphis but it would be great to work at St. Jude's. Right now it's a wait and see scenario so enough dreaming and worrying. Well have a test that was neglected this weekend so need to get back to studying. Have a great week all!

xoxo
