1 year closer

I have finished my first year of nursing school! It ended with 3 A's and 4 B's which is good enough for me. Now for the big semester in the fall and then only one year left! I am very excited to be so close and for my almost 4 month summer break!!! :) Also My Sister is graduating on Saturday from the same program! She has been through a lot during her time in the program and has always found a way to muster through it. I am so proud of her and cant wait to see where she goes and what she accomplishes. Maybe even work together one day... :) Congratulations Sarah, I love you!!
I completely forgot about my trip to Pittsburgh with the SNA (Student Nurses Association) chapter from my school. It was fantastic! There were info sessions on all different fields of nursing as well as global nursing and things like Pharmacology made insanely easy. The information alone was priceless. We also had speeches from some of the leading nurses in the country and nurses who have made and are making differences in the profession. It opens your eyes to the expansive world of nursing and reinvents the excitement for the profession. There is also vendors and schools who give pens and such trinkets away with information for further education and possible jobs. And I think the best part was the resolutions section. Each school chooses a pre-selected number of individuals to represent their school and those people listen to resolutions written by schools and individuals about the profession of nursing that they would like the NSNA (national SNA) to support and help make possible. For example, one was about accepting a theorists model into nursing curriculum or making simulation labs standard in all nursing schools. Very empowering to see differences made by fellow students. And the networking is wonderful!! :) I am planning on attending all I can before I graduate.
Not much else had happened here since my last post. Only plans we have right now are for the pinning and graduation ceremonies for Sarah and hit some zoo's and aquariums sometime this summer. Oh and of course the hydroplane races in Indiana and maybe  the races in Detroit as well. Hopefully there is not much else going on this summer. I could use a break and some good home time with my guys. I hope to meet up with some friends from school and let the kids hang out together and maybe review some material before the semester starts, but thats as far as I plan on planning.. :) So for now I will get back to trying to clean the house, have a great day everyone!

xoxo
